CAN is pretty forgiving. As long as you make good secure electrical contact it will be fine. If I were in that position, I would just shorten the already short cable by putting a new end in at the breakpoint, but the cannon connectors used by Ag Leader CAN are not that common in the average toolbox.

The twist in the wires is important for shielding on long lengths of cable, but in the short few inches of a cable repair does not matter that much. I've seen enough factory wiring where if the cable is short enough, the twist is not maintained.

I would caution against soldering. It embrittles the wires just past the solder joint, and can cause future breakage if those wires are subject to movement or vibration. A good crimp, with a good quality crimp tool, a good quality butt connector, and a good sealing job with good quality heatshrink tube, and you will be in good shape.
