Edit, I should expand a bit....
In my experience, the answer is no. Another good option that you may pursue is oats, but do them quick. The last two years they have lived into December here, getting knee high, then they disappear in the spring. If you want good fall growth and spring, do 50/50 oats and cereal rye, as the oats will get much taller this fall than rye.
