Galen, this is what i have read about cereal rye and annual rye grass. Annual rye grass has a deeper root than cereal rye with annual rye grass being able to penetrate hard pans and cereal rye not so much. From personnel experience, I would be more worried about the annual rye grass than the cereal rye but it would depend on how easy it is for these two to root in your soils. Clear as mud isn't it.
