Disking will work.
We havent touched the plow in the last 3 years. Just are using a high speed disk and cover crops.
Havent really had to pick many rocks either-best part.
We disk the field 2x, then plant corn and cultivate usually 1x, sometimes 2.

Did you see that part where this is sod and he can't get on it until spring? You're disking sod 2x in the spring and planting corn into those ribbons and clumps and roots? I'd like to see a picture of that. Not to mention he won't be planting corn behind sod (because there's no N credit) so that probably means beans, which will be an unmitigated weed disaster.

Have been ripping up old hay fields after 3rd cutting (with ripper) then disking and putting in a cover (gets harvested) and have rye cover again in spring.

Not the same at all. He can't get on it until spring.
