I've never planted ARG, so I can't comment on it. I wanted to try it once, some folks at MSU were a little scared of it at that time and advised against it. Thats likely changed by now. I still think that I'd recommend cereal rye to try first, though. Kind of a known quantity, management in the spring is pretty painless. We occasionally grew wheat, and I did have some volunteer rye in it a couple times. Never got dinged though.
