Subject: RE: Manure and cover crops

Greensburg IN
We use cc exclusively on all our ground for the past 5 yrs. We have enough hog manure to apply on 25% of our acres each year. Started out using a tanker a few years ago but now use a dragline with yetter magnums and rolling coulters. Generally apply about 5 to 6k gals of gestation, nursery, and finisher so it is not very hot. I like to let the cc get established because we find if you apply to quickly after planting the salt can hurt the germination of the cc. You will probably tear up less than 10% of the plants and by spring there will be little to no noticeable lack of cc. We have planted behind Dietrich knives also and it worked well also, no tillage is done between application and planting but we do have the delta force on planter now.
