Western-Central Lower Michigan | I buy my RAM used off ebay at reasonable prices. ( I do not think RAM "wears out" so why not buy used?)
To get even a bigger "upgrade" consider a solid state hard drive. (SSD), look on newegg.com and see whats available and at what price point.
SSD's arent cheap, but you can move them to a different computer when you get another one.
Myself, laptops bought from major retailers are just sort of disposable. Maybe shop around and price a new one with DDR3 ram, and a better processor vs trying to upgrade what you have.
