Hopefully I'm not too late on this. It's been a while since I've done it, but here's some general guidance on importing images into SMS.

When I'm looking for aerial or satellite imagery, I typically start with https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/ . You might take a look at the Landsat 8 imagery. The visible and NIR resolution is 30 meters, but it will provide you with the most frequent, consistent, and high resolution satellite images available for free.

There's also some different types of data available at https://nationalmap.gov/
