I think sex education is a good thing to help prevent problems in later life.
It is not just about pregnancy but of course that is a big part of it.
Keeping everything hush hush and hidden away has been documented to NOT solve problems but lead to more pregnancies etc.

In Ontario a new curriculum was introduced a year ago and they start teaching about it in grade 1.
And when they introduced it there were demonstrations and protests about it, parents who wanted to keep their children in the dark and uneducated. Yes they said they would do it themselves but I don't think the track record is very good about that. When the parents are embarrassed about their own bodies and natural functions they are not likely going to do a good job of educating their children.

Sometimes we think we are all so smart but I recently read where it was 1875 or so before humans finally figured out exactly how babies were 'made'.
That was when they finally realized the wiggly things in male ejaculate were not 'parasites' (yes the believed them to be like the wiggly things in pond water until then) but a key part of the process of a woman getting pregnant. Not sure when they discovered the egg in a woman but think it was not much different in time period.
Yes they knew that the sexual act was part of it but did not know how it worked and had no idea of why sometimes it resulted in a pregnancy and other times it did not.

So education is important and continuing to seek answers, And hiding natural things like the human body and making it something bad or 'dirty' is not beneficial.
