All good posts here,  aimed at  the filter, or  fuel supply pressure.    If it's a boost leak,   it'll be a smokin'  harder than normal.   The computer also reads boost and  adjusts fuel accordingly..  so it probably won't be a coal roller,  just more smoke.  (for stock trucks)   LOL<  finding one that hasn't been  modded is getting rare, so  keep that in mind.  Chances are, if it's still running the stocker  type  fuel pump, it's probably either stock, or  just a mild upgrade in the flash/computer,  or nozzles.

Do the  filter first,  then  you really need to test  pressure at the injection pump.     If you've got at least  14-16 at idle,  you'll have enough to ensure   enough flow through the pump for cooling and lubrication.
