North Central Illinois | Nothing works for me. When I think they are ready, I cut a little square out of the side with a knife and pull a little piece out. If it tastes good, I bring the melon in. If it's close, I put the piece of rind back in and wait a couple days. Usually it takes 3-4 days for the hole to cause a bad spot, and as long as it was close to ripe, it finishes by then. | |
