I switched my 1600 from 540 to 1000 this spring. I ran it on my 1086 before and after. I think the 1000 rpm pump is a little slower. The pumps are Cessna and interchangeable. I would find a old pull type windrower with a 540 pump and swap out the pumps. Make sure you have about 10 pails for all the oil
