| About 7 years ago I bought a brand new MK10-61 swing hopper Westfield auger. Right from the start it never had as much capacity as I thouht it should. Everytime you would start loading it heavy, guaranteed to shear a bolt. After many calls to the dealer, having company rep come look at it and posting on AgTalk for ideas I've finally figured it out. This summer I resprocketed the hopper and slowed it down about 10%. Now I can feed the hopper as much as I want and never shear a bolt. This is augering some of the wettest corn we've ever combined (25-29%) | |
