Last year,I bought a 35 ton splitter from Tractor Supply, it is both horizontal and vertical and has self contained hydraulics powered by a Briggs 12 HP engine. I have split logs of about 20 inches with no trouble,most of the logs were either oak or pecan. I don't remember for sure, but I think I paid about $1500 for the splitter
