Southern Nevada desert
Is it losing all the gears or just certain blocks? If it is losing all the gears its not a solenoid (aka fema valve)
If its losing all the gears the trans computer is seeing something it thinks is bad, a low pressure signal or trans slippage. This could be either electrical or mechanical, usually electrical. It could be a speed sensor or a clutch position switch

Check the codes, move a fuse to the "diag" location, turn on key, use turn signal to select PCU in dash display, pull back on turn signal ("flash to pass" position) to enter PCU, select address 1 using turn signal and read codes.
