Subject: Compaction/Ripping

WCWI
Went on a parts run with a friend today and ended up getting suckered into a Compaction probe, so on the way back we decided to pull into one of my fields to try this out. This field I was fairly aware the I had Compaction problems before I got this probe, now some spots I would start getting Compaction at 6-8 inches and then get through the hard pan at 11-14 inches, but some spots would get tight at the 6-8 inches and get worse and worse up till I ran out of probe (27 inches).

Now for the question, how deep can I get a ripper to go? I didn't think they went 27 inches, and thats not the end of the Compaction layer and I thought you had to get under it to break it? So my wondering is if I can't get a ripper to go that deep but deep enough do break it up to say 18 inches is it worth the time and fuel, because there will still be the layer below that not touched.

Thanks in advance, and yes in case any of you are wondering I always use the search function before posting a question.
