Subject: RE: Corn planted into cold soil

Planting early is a big advantage with the new hybrids. Early planted corn can beat the heat during pollination and be in a better moisture environment during the 5th leaf stage when ear size is determined. It's a risk, but the reward can be 20 bpa or more. Cold water is a risk to the seed for the first 48 hours. After that you should be okay. Planting in low 40's soil temps is extremely risky vs late 40's.
