Let's start out by saying you are correct
that parts after a time become a issue because of wear.
Let's also point out that diesel is more efficient.
But stirling was more efficient when the steam engine was in regular use.

Things have changed.
This tech hasn't been brought up to speed.
If the underlying principle is sound it has potential.

I wonder"if it's true" maybe the reason
why the company went under that installed the units
at military base in Utah.

On to what I have found
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UbY-DgxbxzE
The answer I was looking for.

http://www.qnergy.com/oem/

Company has had some really hard times.
I guess they installed a bunch in a military base
in Utah and they also installed 3 free dishes
in Montana for a handicap camp.

What I like.
Almost anyone here can build a stirling engine.
Relatively easy but as always craftsmanship
is where it counts.

It can run on any heat or cold source.
Tin roof etc.

The tech was improved through NASA.
No lag time and no start up time.

Ok
Rubber meets the road
I can't get ahold of Qnergy.
No one knows the cost of there engines.
I believe a company in Iseral bought them out.
These engines are used in houses as well
as many other applications.

I would venture to bet "but could be wrong"
google's big secret power plants.

If they work with no problems there maybe the answer.

More stuff to chew on
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iKxRwJgo0d4

Tech is always rough in the beginning all
boils back to the main principles or the goal
it is trying to reach to inspire no thought.
This is build able in any household.

Cant afford to run a diesel 24/7
But the new focal lense tech and the new
heat removal tech has me really intrigued.

In theory
It's scale able
They could build a dish the size of a large platter
that would"in theory" do 1kw.
There Reflective on the dish is wrong.

Also could be a big bust.
