When he is exporting the shape make sure he doesn't have too many polygons or that could make it go haywire too. For example a viper pro can up to 30,000 polygons. If you get a big field it might be more and then need to make it smaller. Can't remember off the top of my head what a pro 700 can handle for polygon count.
