Subject: RE: Fertilizing Sandy Soils?

South Eastern VA
I'm going on the hunt for manure this year.

There has got to be someone around that needs to get rid of their poo. Hahaha

My cover crops and nitrogen have never been a problem...believe it or not I can grow great corn and beans on this land. In the few short years Ive owned it I have learned how to manage it. There has been absolutely no tillage on it in five years and it gets covered with crimson clover, annual ryegrass and radish every year. I can physically tell a difference when I stick a shovel in the ground.

When I first bought it you couldn't even get the shovel to go in...I weight about 250lbs and could not budge that bad boy into the dirt. I basically consider these fields my "project fields". I would eventually like to maybe try growing contest corn or beans on it for fun.

It's only two fields being about 4 acres a piece so I'm not talking about thousands of acres here.
