NE CO | I have a 3 ph 220 V 25Hp electric motor running a 10 in-71 ft Westfield auger. It is to a 6 ring bin about 35 ft high. I have rarely had trouble with the setup until the past year. It has started tripping the 80 amp circuit breaker, and last night blew one of the 80 amp fuses in the circuit as well. Last year when the problems started, I measured the current on the motor, and found it drawing 70-90 amps on each leg of the 3 phase current. The motor is nameplated at 60 amps for the 25 hp motor. Should this auger setup be requiring this much power to operate? I am augering 18 % moisture corn as fast as the auger will draw it out of the hopper, but also have had the auger trip with 15% wheat earlier this summer.
Am I just loading the auger too heavy, or do I have a problem with the motor or the auger? Thanks for any suggestions
