Deep southern Illinois
First thing I do when we have an oil pressure problem is screw in the 60# gauge. ~6" piece of pipe with an elbow and gauge screwed to it screws right in. I believe where the sending unit fits. Leave side shield off and you can see it from the cab while running.

Light is supposed to go off at either 10 or 12 pounds. You weren't idling were you? Had an 8950 that showed low oil pressure at idle and the throttle linkage needed to be adjusted because it was idling too low.
