Sampling can have a large effect of OM found in the soils lab. Getting crop roots in the sample raises the found organic matter. Sampling away from the crop rows can lower the organic matter found. With strip till and no till farming sampling precise locations can have a big effect. Sampling origins are based on presuming the whole field is mixed which it isn't for minimum tillage. So today sampling and soil testing can be misleading.
