| .xlsx looks like it was a file created/saved with Office 2007...which adds an x to the end of the usual normal file extensions, Word files saved are now saved as .docx. Whoever sent the file to you can actually save it such that it is compatible with earlier versions of Office, or you might be able to download a compatibility pack from Microsoft.
