Centre county Pennsylvania, USA
No, WAAS is not same as Deere SF1. Deere advertises slightly better accuracy when SF1 is used instead of WAAS for differential GPS correction signal in their Starfire receiver.

I'm not selling anything and I'm not an expert in anything but here is my understanding of why Deere's claim may actually be true. WAAS is a differential GPS (DGPS) correction signal that USA gov provides free to all single frequency DGPS receivers in USA. The WAAS correction includes a "guess" at correction needed for local ionospheric propagation errors. Starfire is a dual frequency receiver that is capable of providing it's own correction for ionospheric propagation. That correction is actually measured by the Starfire receiver, it's not a "guess" as it is in the WAAS correction. I believe Deere currently provides free SF1 DGPS correction to all Starfire users, at least the Starfire on our combine claims to be using SF1 and I'm not paying any annual Deere subscription (yet).
