If it's been a clammy mess, it has an internal drainage problem. I did a Google search last night on corn after cereal rye. 3 problems noted are n tie up, supposed allelopathy, and pythium is some times worse. Your clammy soil may have caused a Pythium problem. I put 3 ounces of generic quadriceps in furrow on mine and got lucky on timing.
