I have been posting here that cover crops are not all fun and games. Require extra management. Here we have been fooling with them for 25 years.

With that said. I think people are planting too early. Especially in this type of situation. I don't know your local climate but it looks like you are about the same as us latitude wise. And I get real scared planting anything before the 20th. Have only ever started before that 2 times and if it's cold we wait until the end of April.

There is a dealer around here that has collected a lot of data and they say May 5th is optimal. That's seems a little late for me but honestly if I think about it it's not too far off what I have seen.
