I will guarantee you people do make face cords out of wood that is not 16".

Point being that the only legal measurement is cord or now preferred cubic metre.

Maybe there are some jurisdictions that have a legal definition of face cord but they are few and wood sellers do not all have 16" wood in their 'face cords'

That is how you get burned buying by the face cord.

If you want to sell 1/3 cords then that is how they should be described to stick to legal measures in most jurisdictions and for sure in Canada.
