We've used backup.com for years and on 2 occasions had hard drive failures on the accounting computer. It was very reassuring to retrieve the last backup and have it reinstalled on another computer within maybe 30 minutes. You can schedule is weekly or daily and even specify which days. We run a general backup several times a week on different computers, with the activity at night after no one would be using the computers or DSL line. We don't back up everything on backup.com but certainly back up the more critical data. The price has gone down quite a bit through the years and the amount of storage for the money has gone up. I think we get 25 gigs now for $250 a year. That's a "bucket" plan that can be used on multiple machines. We were using it even when all we had was a dialup connection, and it was still enough to tuck away data bases and accounting. It runs comparisons and only backs up stuff that has changed since the last backup. Owen |
