NE Iowa | That backhoe would work great for connections and start holes. I wish I had one like it. If you go to google earth and look at your fields in the lower right corner it shows elevation in feet wherever the cursor is. It will at least show you roughly how much fall you have from one end of field to the other. It is a good place to start planning how to make your runs. If you have any questions let me know.
