SC Wisconsin
This might not be the best piece of advice I've ever given, but attaches is a pic of how my place looked when I bought it. Total swamp of about 10 acres in the middle, plus a couple acres on each side that was interesting getting into to say the least. Like they say, its easier to ask for forgiveness than it is for permission, so I bought a skid loader and grapple bucket, cleared it, and had a ditch dug in a hockey stick shape through the wetland. I can plant right up to the edge of the ditch if I want, and only 1 wet spot in the field. To the O.P.,talk to other excavators on ideas to get the land cleared or whatever so you can get the most tillable out of it you can.
