| I was wondering if some people could help me out with research I’m doing in the precision ag. market. I’m particularly interested in the products of Hemishpere GPS (Outback systems, eDriveTC, and Baseline HD), but I want to understand them in relation to the products of other vendors as well. I’d really appreciate the help of anyone who has a moment to share their thoughts on one or some of the questions:
On what basis do people buy one system over another?
Is price a very determining factor? It seems that the Outback/eDrive/Baseline system is substantially less expensive than comparable products – is this impression correct? If so, what would lead a person to buy a Trimble, AutoFarm, or NavCom product?
Are there any real or perceived technological differences between competing systems?
Do the Outback/eDriveTC/Baseline systems lag at all?
Whose products are considered to have the best ease of use?
Does any company stand out for customer service/support – do any severely lag?
Is the availability of any products more or less than that of others – that is, are the distribution/dealer networks for certain products much better or worse than that of others?
