Subject: Re: TRUCOUNT...ours (3 pics!)

Chebanse, IL.....

We installed 16 Tru-Counts on a JD1790 planter. We set ours up to work in pairs of 2, therefore 8 sections. Ours are operated by AgLeader Insight via Swath Control. This was our first yr for them. We installed them in a very short time...literally minutes per unit. Routing wires took a little longer as well as mounting the pump & junction boxes. We did 100% of install.

We planted a lot of corn & bean acres. I think we have more than our share of "point rows" also. Clutches worked great. At this point, we'd add them again if we didn't already have them. Next yr I think we will make them operate singularly.

2 minor glitches. We routed the airline inside a small frame tube of the hitch that also contained a couple of hydraulic hoses that operate blowers in the 1790. The hyd hoses get warm (not hot) & that softened the air line to the clutches routed thru there also. Air line developed a blister & blew out. As you may know, clutches go to "full time ON" when the system fails. We then re-routed airline outside the tube & planted several thousand acres more. No problem w/that.

Then one day the pump quit running. We drove the tractor to the other end of the field & them pump started back up. We thought it had overheated & shut down, but we were wrong. We had pinched the wire in our 3pt hitch & it had severed the ground wire. It then started making intermittent contact. We replaced that wire & were underway within minutes. No other problems.
