I've threatened to have a cell phone fliinging contest a time or two.  Sounds like you need to have an SD card flinging and see how far it will fly.

We use SD cards in the meters on our gas delivery trucks for data storeage and transfer.  We've gone through a lot of SD cards the last 5 years.  When they get flaky your only choice is a good flinging and replace it.
