Yes, I'm comparing the gross for the farm vs the gross for the road tax.
The net for the farm looks much much better than the net for roads.
By the way, the net income for farming as a whole is fine. Its the % of the income that goes to the land payment that is the problem. All of the profit in farming is being bid into land, just like it usually does.
If you have a farm you bought in 1989 its now worth 10-15x what you paid for it. If you live near a road that was last paved in 1989 its full of potholes and is in danger of becoming a gravel road again, but the road tax is still the same as 1989.
