Someone mentioned Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. I didn't know there were 2 books that actually take place before that one....Dead Man's Walk & Comanche Moon. Then after Lonesome Dove is the final chapter....Streets of Laredo. I'm working on Comanche Moon right now & I can picture the written words. I even read a page today that gave me goosebumps! They are all long books but I am not disappointed I'm reading them. Another favorite author that usually grabs my interest right off is Michael Connelly. One of the characters is a defense lawyer....Lincoln Lawyer series & another is a cop...Bosch series. They are both the "good" guy. The Worst Hard Time was another one that really stuck with me. Those were tough people. I love the books that grab you, suck you in & make you feel what they wrote.
