NorthWest Indiana | Call me old fashioned, I prefer a steel trailer. Haul rough livestock most of the time, horned bulls, mishandled, untrained kicking horses to name a few. Like being able to make my own repairs and know the durability of my trailer. Just sold a '93 16' deck gooseneck and bought a 78 24' deck gooseneck that is twice the trailer in durability and quality. Biggest thing against the steel trailer is the cheap way the manufacturer applies the paint. Looks nice for a couple of years then the rust from under the paint takes over! Aluminum looks great for a while, can't make welds at home and hear of terribly expensive weld costs in repairing them. Never have hooked to a steel and pulled then hooked to an aluminum and pulled to make any comparison. So would say it is personal preference and what the pocket book can afford. Do hear that if you pull empty a lot, cracks occur quicker and more often. | |
