This summer we poured concrete in a 38 year old Morton building we use as our seed shed.
Before pouring we dug down beside each post & installed another post side by side for ease of mind.
To our surprise of the 20 or so post we did, only one was what I would call 1/2 rotted off.
My dad was 54, & I was 22 when it was built, I'm now 60 so this shed has already lasted two generations
& will probably last my sons farming time or we wouldn't have spent 10k on concrete. You are right, there are other options
if a person so desires. It must be what others has stated, it depends on
the soil type & how wet the land around the building site is. Post frame buildings still work for us.
