Tell me again how putting wood in the ground is a long term proposition?

concrete is almost for ever - wood not . . ..  ...

If I had to use wood, I'd coat the area in the ground and up at least 1 ft above ground with foundation coating, at least.

Concrete would be a better option . . . ..

Put some 4X6 posts in for a big electric panel. Soaked them with Thompsons, let them dry then slopped on foundation coating like mentioned. Not sure how long they will last but has to help?

I did the same treatment to a swing support legs - they set on bare ground. Thompsons, soaked 3 times and then when dry, painted on foundation coating and let it dry. 4 yrs later and so far, so good. no soft spots or any deteriorating going on. Time will tell.
