Thunder Bay, Ontario, Great White North | I installed a Juno when I built a new robot barn in 2011. My barn has four rows of stalls on one side of the feed alley, only about 15" of bunk space per cow but with the feed being pushed up every two hours it works well. The Juno also helps keep the cows active around the clock so the robots are used more efficiently.
We have had a few issues with it getting mixed up on occasion but that usually is only an issue on Saturdays when we put out three mixer loads of TMR instead of the usual two per day. A neighbor has the same barn design I have also built in 2011, I don't think his Juno has ever been lost or mixed up.
With the robots the Juno is an integral part of the system. When we are busy cropping or I'm at a meeting or one of my kids hockey games the feed is still getting pushed up, the robots make our chore times very flexible and the Juno means I don't have to run home and push up feed, I still spend time in the barn but it is certainly not at the same time every day. |
