We may have had our first frost last night, outdoor thermometer said 32F this am. But maybe up high on the ridge grass will keep growing for a little while yet. I am still rotating cows and calves through my regular grazing strips while also moving a small group of yearlings to make best use of some odd patches of grass in lanes and also around my house.

Here are some pictures from yesterday with the cows and this morning with the yearlings. The standing corn behind the yearlings is my grazing corn strip for the coming winter. This year's calves will be grazing this corn beginning in December.

Also a couple pics of the rye and turnips drilled into Aerwayed silage ground on 9/26. It won't be grazing for this fall yet here in WI but hopefully will provide some early grazing next spring before planting silage corn into this strip again next May.

Yearlings and cows are looking good, putting on condition for winter. All should be bred. Here are some pics.
