Trouble is all that high protein winter wheat from down south was also low quality, low test weight. Its kinda like robbing Peter to pay Paul when you blend low quality wheat like that. Looking at some fields of spring wheat and how fast they are turning compared to the spring wheat fields that received all the N-P-K-S needed and I would say a good portion of the wheat around here ran short on nutrients so I am expecting low protein for a good chunk of these fields. I think good quality wheat with good protein will carry a premium or maybe the premium above 14.0% stays the same but the discounts below 13.0% get really steep. I am seeing a lot of four kernel spikelets on some very nice long heads so I am expecting some very good yields this year.
