Subject: RE: Chamberlain to Wall, SD

South Dakota
This spring and early summer has been cold and wet therefore we have been short on days dry enough to go in the field. Much of this is now no-till and there have been plenty of days too windy to spray. When we are wet just a little rain will make it too wet again. This clay soil takes longer to dry out. The late planting could be millet for grain or hay. If it was prevented planting perhaps a cover crop was planted. A few farmers still like to have summer fallow. Another problem we have sometimes is high wind causing dirt to blow.
