Sandy Hook, MB

Hello All

As per usual, once it starts it's not going to stop anytime soon.

Spent about 2 hrs. in the 27° C & humidity digging a ditch as deep as the spade & saved a few acres of corn yesterday.

Felt like I accomplished something & it was worth the effort. But, with the heat, ground water evaporates & by the evening, another 0.8" fell in a thunderstorm.

So today the water from the ditch was flowing into my farm.

Fighting a losing battle, draining water off the higher low spots & flows north & into my farm. This is a major problem farming within 1 mile of a major lake. All the land slopes this way toward Lake Winnipeg & all the water flows this way from the west. I have to wait until everyone else's water drains off their bush & swamp land (& into my land, filling up all the low spots) before my water can drain off.

I give up. That's all that I've been doing this past week was making ruts with the tractor wheels & digging ditches with the spade trying to save a few acres of crop on my fields. It's dead.
