Ea. Washington | Just put an inline oiler like used to lube a jackhammer directly ahead of the steam engine. They look kind of like a large egg, have a sight glass to check oil level and inside the fill plug there is a screw to adjust to amount of oil. Motor oil should work. Helped restore a Case stem engine for the local museum and we tried to run it on air but before it was restored using a 175 compressor. Just barely ran it.
Compressed air at 150 Psi will expand approx. 10 times but steam at the same pressure expands approx. 1700 times in volume.
The above statement may vary depending on temperature, my personal experience and ability to remember things I have seen or read and may be widely discussed and disputed. | |
