East Central Ia, S. Waterloo
See: geocaching.com. It's a fun "free" activity, very family friendly. I quote free because you can spend alot on equipment, and time and gas pursuing it. It can take you to interesting out of the way places you'd never see on your own. We do a little of it but, there are some who find one everyday and have found tens of thousands. It is international, as said they can be found clear around the world. We've gone to some meet and greets and I'd say the magority of the people are retirees that do it to get out and see places. Yes there are those that in their zest to participate put hides where they shouldn't without permission by the rules you are supposed to let resident people know what your doing. Plus all hides must be approved by a designated person assigned for the area, granted it's mostly a rubber stamp. Mostly it's just for fun. There's no rules as to how hard you go at it, you just do it if you want, or not.
