NC Kansas
coaches make teams...the parents have to help make the players. I'm currently helping with t-ball... and yes they all need to be coached on how to stand, hold a bat, field a grounder, etc... but we are 2 coaches with about 15 kids and 45 min of practice. As a coach you can only do so much with the time you have. The parents/players have to do a little bit of work at home if they want to really succeed. I love teaching those fundamental type things, but trying to keep the attention of a 5 year old among a dozen 5 year olds is a tall task. As the OP said, if they know the basics in t-ball they are doing fine. Properly turning a double play will come later.
