I couldn't disagree with you more. Not all seed treatements are the same, the importance for fungicides is broad spectrum control. Usually mulitple modes of action work best.
As far as insecticide seed treatments, the most important factor is water solubility. This is how the treatment gets up into the plant and protects after emergence as well in the ground.
Treat my soybeans??
