MN | You can thaw Genex semen in a water bath, in fact I think they recommend water thaw on the 1/4cc straws. Pull as many straws as you have guns for, no more than 10 at a time, less if it tends to take you a while to get through the cervix. However, I wouldn't pull more than one at a time if you don't have a quick moving system where the cows are already sorted for breeding and ready to go into a chute. I would also recommend an AI gun warmer if you plan to pull more than 3 or 4 at a time. They are really handy, you can put quite a few guns in them and the temperature is regulated to keep semen at optimum temperature. If I am remembering correctly, I don't think you are supposed to let your straws sit in a water bath for more than 2 minutes. | |
