The method used for steering will determine how well it can hold a straight line. Basically, how quickly and precisely it can turn the machine.

The quality of the signal has to do with how much position drift you have over some length of time. Over 5 minutes, WAAS will have only a slight bit more position drift than an Omnistar receiver. However, it is hours later when you see the difference. A machine should be able to drive a pretty straight line with either WAAS or Omnistar, it's the repeatability where the Omnistar has an advantage. It's better over time. Of course, RTK is going to be much better than Omnistar.
